The Audain Art Museum is a design and construction marvel.

Purposefully sited to preserve the existing landscape, the intricate steel building is elevated and above Fitzsimmons Creek Floodway by six structural piers. A truss system, spanning 65 feet, allows the building to cantilever 25 feet in either direction.

The exterior of the building is clad in an envelope of dark metal and luminous wood details, virtually invisible between the trees. Inside the museum, the form and character is deliberately minimal to provide a backdrop to the art and a calming space for visitors.

The museum houses the personal collection of Michael Audain and Yoshiko Karasawa, tracing a visual record of British Columbia from the late 18th century to the present day, along with temporary exhibits from around the world.
